Daniel Philip Minor, 65, of Indiana, Pennsylvania, died Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. Born on May 24, 1957 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, he was the youngest son of the late Thomas F. Minor and Marie (Prunevielle) Minor and better known as Jake. He was the kind and loving husband of Barbara (Smith) Minor, whom he married on August 16, 1980.
Dan graduated in the class of 1975 from Forest Hills High School, in Sidman, PA. He worked most of his career as a salesperson and manager at Smith’s Furniture in Indiana until his retirement 2 years ago. Around this time, he moved on to the best job of his life, as a full-time husband, father, and grandfather. He spent every day making sure they all knew how much they were loved.
Dan was a 4e Knight Degree in Knights of Columbus Fr. McNelis Council No. 1481 and has often volunteered in the community to help as needed. He loved hunting and fishing and passed on his love by attending hunting safety courses. He was the past president of Wilmore Sportsmen’s Club where he was an active member playing horseshoes and darts. He also enjoyed competing in the Men’s Christian Bowling League. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of the Saint-Bernard de Clairvaux Catholic Church and served as an usher during masses.
Daniel is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann (Smith) Minor and his daughters: Dawn Cramer (David), of Homer City; Alicia Minor, of Indiana; and Bethany Hillard (Heath), of Indiana and grandchildren; Austin Cramer, Brandon Cramer, Ember Cramer, Waylon Hillard and Macy Hillard. His surviving siblings include: Samuel Minor (Joni), of Bellevue, NE; Thomas Minor (Wanda), of Windber, Pennsylvania; Mary Lou Krupka (Joe), of Sidman, PA; Theresa Paulson, of Dunlo, Pennsylvania; Betty Ann Gregory (Doug), of Foley, AL; Jacqueline Moore (Barry), of Johnstown, Pennsylvania; and Pamela Brence (Mike), of Lovettsville, Virginia.
Dan was predeceased by his parents and by his brother-in-law, Andy Paulson.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday August 31st 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Raiigh-Bence Funeral Home & Crematory of Indiana, 965 Philadelphia Street. The Knights of Columbus will lead a Rosary service at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. A Christian burial mass will be celebrated at Saint-Bernard de Clairvaux Catholic Church on Thursday, September 1st at 10 a.m., Father Andrew Corriente, Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
