Laura A. Mascaro, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, died October 28, 2022 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst, NY. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Gino and Ida (Bindi) Parenti.
Laura was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On April 16, 1955, she married the love of her life, Peter Mascaro, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Mr. Mascaro predeceased her on June 19, 2019 after 64 years of marriage.
Laura began her professional career as a laboratory secretary at the Hooker Chemical Company, then as a medical secretary for a Buffalo neurologist, Dr. Zoar. Most importantly, the job she loved was providing hospitality for her husband’s family business, Peter Mascaro Construction, where many of his clients became lifelong friends. For over twenty-five years, Peter and Laura wintered in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. They were active members of the Estero Cove Condominium community where they developed lasting friendships. While Laura endured health challenges, she always remained upbeat and positive. His many friends and family provided him with a constant stream of joy, laughter and comfort.
Laura was a shining light to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She treasured her time with each of them. He was a deeply faithful person who often offered his daily rosary to anyone in need. A special thank you to Tony Restaino who carried out the Eucharistic ministry and his Sunday morning visits.
Laura is survived by her daughters, Julie (John) Polka, Eda (James) Buzzelli, Franca (Frank) Romeo and Gina Mascaro-Lore; his grandchildren, John (Adrienne Muia) Polka, Laura (Dr. Tim) Lukasik, Angela Lore, Stefania Romeo, Domenic (Dr. Mia) Romeo, Gino (Nadeen) Buzzelli, Dr. Peter Lore and Gabriella Buzzelli; great-grandchildren Nicolas & Francesca Polka, and Alexa & Ariana Lukasik; his brother-in-law, Aldo (Pauline) Mascaro, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Jerry (late Mary) Parenti and brother-in-law Anthony (late Clara) Mascaro.
The family would like to especially thank her caregivers who have become her family. They shared their lives and experiences taking care of her, playing cards and watching her favorite movies. We will be eternally grateful to: Sharon, Tenisha, Queene, Taraneh, Maryann, Michele and Lexi, for the care and compassion shown to Laura and their family.
