Radio Maria England has announced plans to build a new studio at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Rosary, at St Dominic’s Priory in north west London.
The 24-hour station is part of a global network of more than 80 radio stations on all continents. Radio Maria offers a voice of hope and encouragement, responding to Jesus’ invitation: “Go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature” (Mk 16,15).
In a statement, they say: “We try to embrace all the charisms that the Holy Spirit confers on the local and universal Church in our time. Interaction is essential at Radio Maria. We invite our listeners to share their concerns and their joys, and reach out to those who are among the poorest and most marginalized.
“Creating a family spirit, also by involving volunteers and listeners, Radio Maria accompanies anyone who is hungry for God in their journey of faith. Where there is only one person, Radio Maria must also be there,” said Emanuele Ferrario, former president. of the World Family of Radio Maria.
The Sanctuary Church of the Rosary is one of the largest churches in London, comprising side chapels and altars for each mystery of the Rosary. When the church was built by the Dominicans in 1883, it was the first church in the world to have this arrangement, with the intention that this grand and splendid church should be ‘worthy of marking the gratitude of Catholics in the United Kingdom for the many blessings and graces received by Our Lady”.
Father Lawrence Lew OP, Prior and Pastor of St. Dominic Priory said: “We believe this partnership between Radio Maria and the Rosary Sanctuary will be a wonderful way to advance the hopes of the men and women who built the Priory. St. Dominic The Shrine of the Rosary exists for the preaching of the Holy Rosary, which is a special gift from Our Lady to proclaim the Gospel of Christ and the saving love of God for all people. Preachers, we Dominicans are delighted to support and work alongside Radio Maria in our common mission to preach the faith for the salvation of souls, to illuminate the lives of our contemporaries with the light of reason and faith. I have no doubt that our parishioners, pilgrims and the local Rosary Shrine community will be enthusiastic about this evangelistic work, and I know that the people of London and the wider UK will also benefit. greatly appreciate the programs and activities of Radio Maria here at the Rosary Shrine.”
Charles Wilson, Chairman of Radio Maria, said: “We at Radio Maria England (RME) are delighted to be developing our London base at St Dominic’s Priory and Rosary Shrine, often described as ‘Mary’s Home’ in London. Having a broadcast studio and offices here will not only promote RME in London and nationally, but will be a physical location to grow our volunteer base in this beautiful historic sanctuary. I think Our Lady called us here.
Radio Maria’s program is based on three pillars: prayer, catechesis and human formation. The station broadcasts daily mass and spiritual content, as well as social programs and news from around the world. Currently, Cambridge Dominican collaborations include morning prayers, daily mass, and religious education programs including topics on the divine office, saints, and sacred scriptures. With this new studio at the Sanctuary of the Rosary, Radio Maria is delighted to develop collaborations that also promote the mission of the Sanctuary of the Rosary.
As a charity, Radio Maria works with a large number of volunteers in all areas. They assist in promotion, outreach, program creation and presentation, and prayer.
