Stanley J Spence was reunited with God in Heaven with his wife Nadine, son Greg, daughter Phoebe, and parents Anna and Joseph Szepieniec on January 26, 2022. Born April 8, 1927 in Lublin, Wisconsin, he was raised in a dairy. farm with 6 siblings. After serving as an army sergeant in the occupation of Germany during World War II, he graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and received his degree in electrical engineering. He worked for Bendix in Kansas City, MO in 1952, where he met his wife Nadine at a dance. They moved to California, where he worked a 31-year career at Lockheed Missile and Space Corp. He is survived by his sister Rena, brother Joe (Barbara), and a large loving extended family. He was a loving father and stepfather to Edward, Therese, Steve (Suzanne), Greg, Elizabeth (Ward), Anna and Dianne (Dick), and grandfather to 21 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. grandchildren, all of whom loved and cared for him until the day he died.
He loved taking his kids on outdoor adventures, camping, traveling extensively across the United States to see his family in the summer, and hiking everywhere. He was a handyman, dismantling all the appliances in the house to “improve” it. He was a devout Catholic, spending his golden years volunteering in the community. Dad had a servant’s heart and lived by 1 Peter 4:10: “Each one should use the gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering the grace of God in its various forms.” Although our hearts are heavy, we know you are at home with the Lord, and we smile a little thinking that you are probably already teaching people how to polka in heaven. Visitation will be Thursday, February 24 from 5-9 p.m. with the Rosary at 7 p.m. at the Lima Santa Clara Family Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence the Martyr Catholic Church, Santa Clara, CA.
