WINSLOW – Madeline R. Vigue of Winslow went to join the Lord on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Lakewood Continuing Care with her daughters by her side. She was born on June 24, 1925, daughter of Alexandre and Marie Bernard.
Madeline married the late Lionel J. Vigue on November 11, 1942, died September 7, 1997.
Madeline was a communicant from St. John the Baptist Church in Winslow. She served on the parish council and taught religious education at St. John’s School. She was also a teacher at the CCD. What she loved the most was teaching the little children who were going to make their first communion. She brought Communion to the sick and visited those locked up and prayed the Rosary with elderly patients in nursing homes. She was a member of the Eucharistic Adoration Association at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel in Waterville.
Madeline worked at the “Chi Rho Shoppe” with her dear sister Cecile who owned and operated the business.
She was predeceased by her parents Alexandre and Marie; five sisters, Florentine, Cécile, Marie Ange, Laurette Kickham and Gertrude Bernard, three brothers, Roy, Gérald and Victor Bernard; her husband Lionel of 55 years; son Lionel Paul Vigue; and his granddaughter Susanne Marie Lavery.
Madeline is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Poulin and her husband Norman of Billerica, Mass., Nancy Starratt of Unity, Maine, and Jane LaBrecque and her husband Paul LaBrecque of Winslow. She had 11 grandchildren, as well as 19 great-grandchildren, whom she loved very much; several special nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends. Madeline will be best remembered for her love of family.
There will be no viewing. A Christian Burial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 116 Silver Street, Waterville, Maine 04901. Interment will be at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, 78 Grove Street, Waterville , after mass. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Gallant Funeral Home, 10 Elm Street, Waterville, Maine.
