Patricia Verbruggen Obituary (1952 – 2022) – Kimberly, WI

Verbruggen, Patricia Ann
Patricia Ann Verbruggen of Kimberly, WI was welcomed into the arms of the Lord on her 70th birthday, February 4, 2022. Pat fought two courageous battles with breast cancer and won both times. She was tough as nails and relied on the Lord for her strength and courage.
Pat was born on February 4, 1952 to Robert (Windy) and Regina (Peg) DeCoster in Appleton, WI. She grew up in Kaukauna and graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1970. Pat worked for many years at the Little Chute/Kimberly Public Library and loved serving her customers. She married the love of her life, Dave Verbruggen, on July 21, 1973. Together they shared many adventures traveling across the country and stopping at casinos along the way. Over the years they spent many hours together building their cabin in Pickerel where they retired.
Pat enjoyed sharing his time and talents with those around him. She spent much of her days tinkering with friends, knitting blankets for loved ones, and creating personalized scrapbooks for her children and grandchildren. Pat was a devout Christian and her faith was incredibly strong. She prayed her Rosary daily and filled the heavens with her prayer requests for those in need.
In her retirement years, she really enjoyed life to the fullest. She and Dave were members of the Pickerel Geezers UTV club, spent time fishing on their pontoon boat in the summer, ice fishing in the winter, and snowmobile miles. She enjoyed spending her weekends in Pickerel with her family celebrating the 4th of July, telling stories around the campfire, playing cribbage and creating many lasting memories. Pat enjoyed swimming with his “Noodlettes” and cheering on his grandchildren at all of their sporting events. She never missed a beat and was always there for those who needed her.
There was nothing Pat loved more than his family. She had the most beautiful heart and gave everything she had to her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. She always checked in with a phone call and found small ways to show her love for her family. One of the most treasured memories his children and grandchildren may have is of Pat calling on their birthdays and singing. She always found a way to make each of her children and grandchildren feel special. She was the most faithful and loving wife and dedicated her life to the man who blessed her with his family.
Patricia is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dave Verbruggen, children: Eric (Lynne) Verbruggen, Ryan (Julie) Verbruggen, Adam (Emily) Verbruggen and Carrie (Todd) Berken. Grandchildren Issac and Sam Verbruggen, Matthew and Alex Verbruggen, Molly, Evan and Elliot Verbruggen, and Blake and Caleb Berken. Siblings: Judi (Fred) Kiar, Tim (Burr) DeCoster, Bill (Kara) DeCoster and Donna Schmidt. Brothers and sisters-in-law Bill Verbruggen, Robin Verbruggen, Pam VanGompel, Dan (Billie) Verbruggen, Ken (Karen) Verbruggen, several nieces and nephews and countless friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, her mother and stepfather Casey and Mary Jane Verbruggen, and her brothers-in-law Lee Verbruggen and Alan Schmidt.
